Keri Hilson Gives Good Face w/ New CD Cover!!

A lot of people criticize Keri Hilson, but I have been feeling her new stuff so far. I liked the first CD a lot and even better things are slated for Keri with No Boys Allowed which is released on Dec. 21st. Go Keri!!

Movie News

Tyler Perry will be putting an urban spin on Meet the Parents with Tina Gordon Chism's new film We The Peeples. It's about a guy meeting his girlfriend's parents for the first time. I'll give it a shot because TP is the power behind it, but damn a little originality please!

Halle Berry a comedian? Well we shall see once Shoe Addicts Anonymous hits the multiplex. It's about a group of women who bond over their love for all things Manolo Blahnik and Louboutin. Sounds like a multiracial version of SATC so we'll see how this goes. The last time I remember Halle doing comedy was BAPS back in the nineties, and I've been trying to forget that debacle ever since.

Taraji Signs On To Play Tiffany Rubin

One of my favorite movie actresses Taraji Henson has been on a roll as of late. Most recently she starred in The Karate Kid (which I have not seen yet to my regret) and Date Night with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. According to the Entertainment News wire on Black Voices,  Taraji has signed on to the Lifetime flick, Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.

I was not familiar with the story of  Rubin,  a school teacher from Queens and the mother of  a biracial son named Kobe. The story centers around Rubin's search for the child who was stolen from her by the biological dad, a South Korean native.

The American Association for Lost Children got involved and helped to get Kobe back from his father, but the journey to that point will make for some interesting viewing.

I will keep you all posted on when the movie will air on the Lifetime network.

Halle Is NYC Bound

Thanks to the success of The Color Purple, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof,  and Fences, Broadway producers know that urban audiences enjoy the theater just as much as their White counterparts. Maybe that's why Halle Berry has decided to try her hand on stage in the upcoming The Mountaintop.
The play is about Martin Luther King's final hours and Kenny Leon (fresh off Fences) will direct it. I hope that Halle will prove to theater audiences that she can handle the rigors of Broadway life and finally shut up the naysayers who thought her Oscar win for Monsters Ball was a fluke.

More Proof Zoe Is Taking Over the World

It seems as though Zoe Saldana is the new It girl for not only the movies, but Calvin Klein as well. The designer has tapped Z to be the spokes model for his underwear line and Calvin Klein Envy.  October is when the new advertisements will launch so look for the steamy pics in the fashion mags, as well as online and on billboards.

I have heard that it is very hard for a woman to find a man in ATL because there are not alot of black men out there. Is that true?

It's hard all over. My motto is stay prayerful and practice discernment when dating not only in Atlanta, but anywhere.

Ask me anything

Have you ever dated a man outside of your race? if not how come? if so, are white guys just like black guys?

I have gone out platonically with a man from another race, but I am open to dating interacially.

Ask me anything

Do you have a boyfriend?

Single

Ask me anything

Do you have any children?

No kids.

Ask me anything

In your profile it states that you are 38. Do you feel like you are 38 yrs old? I am the same age but feel like I am still in my twenties. It doesn't feel like I am getting close to 40.

I have a baby face so people mistake me for younger. I hope by 40 though I am happier and more content than ever.

Ask me anything

Yolanda is a pretty name. Do you like it?

I do like it. Thanks for the compliment!

Ask me anything

Short n Sassy

I went back to my texturized look after rocking a wig for close to a month. Yeah I tried to stick it out, but I missed my short, no fuss, perfect for summertime short style. Nothing against wigs, weaves, and the ladies that love em, but the short style for the summer is what I prefer.
Now for the future, I may get a wig or weave for those special occasions, but this chocolate covered sister likes a low maintenance look so I can hit the streets without worrying if a wig is straight and looks natural, and one that allows my scalp to breathe.
What's your look of preference for the summer and why is it your favorite look to rock? Sound off in the comment section!

Paula's Post Baby Gigs

Paula Patton is ready to try her hand at television. She is in negotiations to play the new ADA on Law and Order :Special Victims Unit. This would make the umpteenth time they have recast the part.
Nonetheless I would like to see Paula stick to movies. She was terrific as the teacher who befriends Precious in the movie of the same name and as the gold digger Morgan in Just Wright (which inexplicably flopped at the box office).
Other projects on tap: This Wednesday, where Paula will play a "pimpstress" which sounds promising, and the romantic comedy Jumping the Broom.

Info on Vanessa's Housewife Character

I was so happy to learn a few weeks back that Vanessa L. Williams would be joining the prime time hit Desperate Housewives. After watching her for the past few years play bitchy Wilhelmina on my much missed Ugly Betty, I knew V would bring some extra spice to the aging suburban dramedy.
Here's the deets: Vanessa's character Renee Filmore -Jones was Lynette's college rival. She moves to Wisteria Lane, married w/ no kids, and from what I've read, time has not healed all wounds between the two ladies.
I just hate that Blair Underwood has been cast on another show. He would've been perfect as Renee's hunky husband :)

Gabrielle Joins Army Wives Spinoff

Gabrielle Union has not had much luck in the t v series department. Her latest, Flash Forward was cancelled after one season on ABC, but there is some good news on the horizon. The hit Lifetime show Army Wives will be spinning off a series based around the Pamela Moran character, and Gabby has been tapped to be a co star. The only details I have is that she will be playing an Atlanta police officer. I will post more info as it becomes available.
Since I am a huge fan of Army Wives, I am sure this show will have sharp writing along with a great ensemble which makes AW such a ratings powerhouse for the basic cable network.

Halle's Fragrance Takeover Continues

Halle Berry has made a name for herself as a fragrance maven. In August she plans to expand her line even further by releasing Reveal, her latest. Halle states that the scent will be floral, and the commercials for the fragrance will feature her speaking directly to the viewer .

I am happy that Halle is expanding her brand, but I want to see her on the big screen again in a starring role where she isn't a mutant. I actually liked Monster's Ball ( unlike most who viewed it as a slap in the face of black womanhood)and wanted to see more dramatic fare from her . The last movie of hers I enjoyed was Things We Lost In the Fire pre Nahla. Perfect Stranger was a mess with a genius ending, but Halle needs to show the world again how powerful she can be in a feature film where it's not all about her gorgeous looks! Frankie and Alice, a movie that has yet to see a release date has her portraying a woman with multiple personality disorder. It also features Chandra Wilson and Phylicia Rashad. The supporting cast alone is enough to peak interest, so what's the hold up studio?

Until then I will be looking forward to her latest perfume which comes out in August!
