There Are Always Strings Attached

No Strings Attached is the # 1 movie in the country, and it’s all about the whole “friends with benefits” mindset that seems to be all the rage these days. I don’t know how many of us in the urban community are down with this, but there seem to be plenty of people who are. If you aren’t looking for anything more out of the relationship, then is it okay to just sleep with someone for the hell of it? What about the feelings of the person who may become attached to the other?  Is it possible to go back to being friends once you have seen the other person at their most intimate?
In church we discuss how sexual immorality causes us to form soul ties with people, and to be honest with you I don’t believe there is any such thing as being just “friends with benefits”. There are consequences to everything, and if you don’t believe that then you are an emotionally crippled person much like the young lady Natalie Portman portrayed in the movie. Sex is nothing to play with and neither is one’s emotional well being.
My reasons for writing this is to see how many of us have adopted the attitude of loving the one you are with until finding the love you want. Have you benefitted in other ways besides sex with this choice or has making this choice left you emotionally scarred?  I’m also curious if like the movie any relationships that started off this way ended happily?
